What to do during a possible DUI stop

Step 1: Don’t panic

The officer is going to ask you to produce your license and insurance documentation. Then if the officer thinks you might have been drinking they will ask you to get out of the car.

Step 2: Can I pass the field sobriety test?

Short answer, no you can’t. Those tests are created to fail.
Stay in your car!

Step 4: The dreaded breathalyzer

Can you refuse to do the breathalyzer? That depends on whether you think the consequences of refusing will be worse than the results of the breathalyzer. You legally can refuse, but that refusal may come with repercussions also.

Step 5: The aftermath

After your processing and possible detainment, you need to call me at 859.279.1418. I can handle the complications that come with a DUI.
